Lately, I've been listening to music which is so un-me that every time I sing along to a little bit of it I shock myself with the fact that I know it. Specifically, there are two bands which I am referring to, these being Panic! at the disco and Fall out boy. God that's embarrasing.

But it gets worse.

In the eyes of my friends I don't have fantastic taste in men. Yesterday I pointed out a boy who I have developed a slight crush on to my friend and she just laughed. But even I had never gone down the 'emo boy' route. Until now.

Let me make one thing clear, I am definitely not passing judgement on anyone who listens to that style of music, or likes those types of boys or who is emo in any way. All i'm saying is that for me this is totally out of character. I like my musicians melodically aware and talented (sorry, I can't help judging the music just a tad) and I like my men manly. Russell Brand being an absolute exception. Along with Noel Fielding. I don't really like it when boys straighten their hair, cry and write depressing poetry which for me are the defining factors of 'emo boys'.

However I have developed a slight crush on a man who is not only a main stream caricature of what it is to be 'emo' but has also been described by about 50% of the inernet's population as an absolute 'douche' (a term which deeply disturbs me, hence the inverted commas, but is oh so fun to say). I do agree, he looks like an idiot and he ruined Ashlee Simpson, whose tv show I did once watch, with the laughing friend, for about 4 hours straight. My point is that I understand the hatred. But look at him:

He's adorable! I want to kiss him all over his make-up smeared face.

So, I'm sorry England. I'm sorry to everyone who thinks that emo is just the money making side kick of the good, old fashioned goth. I'm going to keep crushing on this one for a while longer. And while I do I will be dance dance-ing and wondering if people have ever heard of closing the god damn door.

I was tagged by Molly and Libby to give my top 5 favourite albums. I was a little bit terrified to tell the truth as I don't really favouritise things permanently and go through phases of liking different music. But at the moment my TOP 5 FAVOURITE ALBUMS are:

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles
It's probably their best known album and as a huge fan I feel like I should be giving some unreleased album that no one's heard of but I adore this album in so many different ways that I couldn't not put it in.
If you only hear one song make it: 'A day in the life'. Amazing lyrics and generally beautiful.

2. Frank by Amy Winehouse

Back to Black was the more successful of her two albums but this one would beats it down to the ground. Every song tells a story and I love that. I will never get bored of this album.

If you only hear one song make it: 'You sent me flying'. I sing along to this SO loud in my room. Especially the 'and your Beastie t-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e, yeah-eh'.

3. Desire by Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan is probably my favourite song writer of all time and although I find some of the songs on this album a little to long and repetitive it is really an amazing work of art.

If you only hear one song make it: 'One more cup of coffee (valley below)'. Poetic lyrics and close harmonies at their very best.

4. By The Way by The Red Hot Chili Peppers

The perfect mix of soft rock and funk with fantastic vocals. I love every song on this album. They are also fantastic live.

If you only hear one song make it: 'Don't forget me'. Because we shouldn't.

5. The Cure - Greatest Hits by The Cure

This may be cheating but I couldn't choose just one Cure album and this an amalgamation of all my favourite songs with, again, fantastic lyrics.

whimsical magic in New York

Erin Fetherston's Fall 09 collection literally took my breath away. It is so stunning it gave me goosebumps. It reminded me of children's story illustrations, Alice in wonderland especially. She's said it was inspired by 'The Nutracker's tin soldiers and other tales of toys springing to life' (style.com).

It makes me want to go out and by an animal mask, spray it silver, put on some white tights and float around in a field.

The mind behind the collection. She is so adorable!

I know so many blogs do fashion week coverage and I'm trying to stay away from it as much as possible but I really thought this collection was too amazing not to write about.

It's hard to feel inspired aesthetically when everything outside is grey, wet and cold. It's days like this that make me wish I lived on the west coast of America, not damp and dreary London.
I am instead turning to styl icons more suited to this temperature. One in particular being Géraldine Saglio, the assistant stylist for French Vogue. Her style is nothing like my normal floaty, ditzy, hippy self but I love how parisian her outfits are, all black and white and navy, so perfect.

This is my favorite outfit of hers that I've seen yet. I adore skinny waisted belts and fringing especially both in black. She is also so beautifully fresh faces and tousled. I'm sure she steps out of bed looking this amazing.
When I live in Paris she will probably be my best friend.
Well, I can dream.

It snowed all last night and has been snowing all day as well! I know this is a very regular occurrence for many people in the world but in London (where I live) it hasn't snowed this much since 2003.
Truth be told, I don't like being out in the snow that much. It's fine for an hour or two but after that I think it becomes too wet, too cold and slightly tedious.
What I do love, however, is dressing for the occasion. So today I emerged from my room in my purple tutu skirt, grey woolen jumper and black leggings, pretty pleased with my 'snow costume' (I was going for an icicle fairy look). My mum took one look at my outfit and predicted that I would be cold. She was right. After 10 minutes of building a snow cat with my baby sister my bum was freezing. This upset me and I ended up changing into jeans but couldn't help fantasizing about snow outfits, so, using the power of polyvore, I've made some up.

I don't like wearing white. I almost hate it. There are a couple of white items of clothing that I will wear.
One of them is my 'stretch bull denim slim skirt' in silver which comes out as a kind of off white. I have only worn it a handful of times but do love. And it's not even properly white.

I have one white tank top which I only turn to in the boiling hot summer sun.

That sums up the white items of clothing I own.

White clothing, to me, feels too hospital-y, too bright and much too clean. I also don't think it looks good with any colours other that blue or black. It is also asking to be stained and I am a bit of a distracted mess (in the best possible way) most of the time so it is not a colour that fits my lifestyle.

However (I'm sure you saw that coming), recently on my search for a cheap faux-fur coat (cheap being the operative word) I came accross this:

It's called a 'yeti yeti fake fur jacket' and is only £15, approximately $22, from Boohoo. It is a bargain and almost exactly what I was looking for, but a couple of details have set off alarm bells in my head. These are:

It's white. You may call it 'blonde' or 'honey' or 'cream' but to me it is very much white.
It has the word yeti in the name twice. Is this trying to warn me of something? Should I heed its warning?

What do you think?
Buy it and maybe end up covered in stains, wandering in the mountains (of London) being trailed by tourist desperate for a sighting of the yeti?
Or leave it, and buy a vintage leopard print one which will ultimately be more expensive but in a weird way more practical?

The picture is of Bianca Jagger looking amazing in fur that I'm sure is:
a) real, and
b) worth way over £15.

Ho hum. I guess we can't all be wives of amazingly gorgeous and talented rock stars.

I found this hard. It's not that I don't admire many people but I found it hard to pick 20 men who deserved to be in this list and who had inspired me personally and weren't just obvious choices. These are in no numerical order whatsoever.

1. Russell Brand

Unlike so many of today's entertainers Russell Brand doesn't dumb himself down to please his audience. He is an extremely intelligent man with enormous amounts of sex appeal and can make me laugh so much I cry.

2. John Lennon

The Beatles are one of my all time favourite bands and John Lennon has always been my favourite. He was a beautiful and inspiring man who really wanted to make the world a better place.

3. George Michael

I have made my feeling for Wham! clear before. He may be seen as a bit of a joke (especially by the British tabloids) but he's written some amazingly catchy and fun songs.

4. Matt Morgan

As the least known person on my list I feel he needs abit of an intro. Until October (the previously mentioned) Russell Brand had a Saturday night radio show and Matt Morgan was his co-host. They are best friends and the show was hilarious (you can download old episodes here. I would highly recomend it). Russell Brand resigned from his show in October after 'Sachsgate', which I am not going to atempt to explain. Since then Matt Morgan has fallen completely off my radar but he is one of the funniest men in the world and you will appreciate this if you listen to radio shows.

5. Barack Obama
He is truly one of the most lovely, charismatic, selfless and down to earth people that walked the planet. (This gives me goosebumps)

6. Bob Dylan

To me Bob Dylan epitomises cool. He wrote some of the most beautiful and moving songs of all time.

7. Alan Bennett

The History Boys is a work of art. Bennet is an incredible author and playwright.

8. Kanye West

As one of the only modern musicians I listen to, Kanye West is something special to me. He may be arrogant but has a right to be as one of the most talented musicians walking the Earth.

9. William Shakespeare
My words will not do him justice. He can created emotion through writing in the most beautiful ways.

10. Andy Warhol
Yes, he was vain, self-obsessed, egotistical etc. but he knew that. He changed art and with it the world and lived by his own rules. I am in the middle of reading his autobiography which is fascinating.

11. Alex James

I like Blur alot. But I adore Alex james. He is a lovely (but also an extremely cool) English-man, lives on a 200 acre cheese farm and has four children named Geronimo, Artemis, Galileo and Sable.

12. Thierry Henry
As one of Arsenal's best ever players Henry has to have a mention on this list. He is also crazy-gorgeous and French. Mmm.

13. Lewis Carroll

He is a true inspiration to me with the most incredible imagination I have ever come across.

14. David Bowie

Innovative with fashion and music. And had a cameo in Extras. I love.

15. My Dad

My love of music comes from my dad, especially 80s music. Apart from this we are almost polar opposites; me being abit ditzy and scruffy and him being extremely clean, tidy and generally really organized. He helps me keep my life out of complete chaos and I help him choose clothes in return.

16. Charlie Summers
He may not be a man just yet but will grow up to be an incredible one. He is the kindest boy I have ever come across, even if he is just a drawing.

17. Ray Davies

I really, really love the Kinks and Ray Davies is an amazing song writer and poet.

18. Noel Fielding

He has created his own genre of comedy which is so random and different it is genious. He also has an amazing dress sense and live across the road from one of my best friends.

19. Hans Christian Andersen
His stories are absolutely beautiful and so sad. He was responsible for the original little mermaid. He also wrote The Tinderbox and The Little Match Girl, both childhood favourites.

20. Spiderman
He wants to rid the world of evil and is definitely the coolest superhero. I would love to marry him.

I like Wham!

I like Wham!, alot, so much so that I spell it with an exclamation mark. I'm just putting that out there. I need to check our compatibility.

I like other music too. I love the Beatles. I listen to Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Simon and Garfunkel, Blur, and The Cure all on a very regular basis.

But Wham! are important to me.

I like fashion. I like pigs, big hair, fairy lights, Russell Brand, magazines, postcards, making videos, the circus, Steve Jones and doing homework in bed.

If you enjoy the music of George Michael and Andrew Ridgley, or can at least tolerate it, you should keep reading. We will have alot of fun.
